Java is the most widely used programming language and the best way to get started with coding. This course provides an excellent launching point into the world of object-oriented programming. Not only is Java™ one of the most advanced and powerful programming languages, but mastering Java™ provides a perfect foundation for learning additional programming languages such as C++, C#, or Swift.

This introductory course provides students with a foundational understanding of the anatomy of code and uses Processing IDE to gain a strong understanding of object-oriented coding. The course covers the basic syntax of Java, enabling students to create conditionals, loops, and functions. It also covers Object-Oriented design, as well as provides an introduction to Processing.JS and UI design principles, which are further explored in depth in the advanced course Mobile App Development with React.

Software Development and Coding Courses

Computer code runs your devices and the world. Our Programming courses prepare students with the skills they need to develop their own apps and games in languages such as C#, and Java. React Native is the most widely used framework to develop mobile applications and games for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile. Students leave our computer programming courses with skills nad knowledge that sets them on the path to a career in computer science and engineering. As a result of Student’s experience with Java and React they will have the foundational building blocks of an industry professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it recommended to have a background in algebra?

Being able to solve algebraic problems is simply a good way to assess if you’re ready to start programming in Java™. Things like functions and variables are crossover concepts. Being able to visualize and plot points on a Cartesian coordinate plane is also very important.

If a student already has some experience, are different skill levels accommodated in the course?

Instructors and TAs are always willing to modify and customize the curriculum to make sure that all students are engaged and challenged. The first day or so will be utilized to gauge students’ individual skills and strengths. We also have advanced extensions for every course, so teachers can challenge advanced students.

Lunch Plan

Make things easy and get lunch on campus so you don’t have to pack your own. Lunch Plans start at $95/week at select locations.

Overnight Housing

Stay in the dorms and eat on-campus, Sunday through Friday. Overnight Housing starts at $695/week where available.

Extended Day

Our flexible Extended Day option allows families to pick-up students as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Thursday at all locations.

Weekend Stay

Add Weekend Stay and enjoy extra activities and day trips around the area. Weekend Stay starts at $380/weekend at select locations.
